Bereavement Support Group
The Retreat Clinics is offering a five-week online bereavement support group. Bereavement can be an isolating and lonely experience and here at The Retreat Clinics we have designed a support group that will not only provide some educational information about grief and the grief process, but it will also provide opportunity to support, and be supported by others.
Bereavement support can help you if you:
- Are grieving the loss of a loved one and the loss occurred over six weeks ago,
- Feel isolated and alone,
- Struggle with feelings of guilt, anger, shame,
- Would like to learn from the experience of others,
- Are not in crisis (suicidal),
- Need practical support to manage your grief.
How Group Therapy Helps
Group therapy provides a safe space so that you can talk about your experiences with others. It can help you gain new perspectives, learn new skills, and connect with others who are also experiencing a bereavement. Doing so aids a sense of control and reduces isolation. Being able to express difficult thoughts and feelings, can make them feel less overwhelming and, in time, more manageable.
Group Meetings
Our group meets online, at 9.30am – 11am on Thursdays. There will be a maximum of eight group members and the facilitator. The group meets weekly over five weeks. The facilitator is an experienced psychotherapist with experience in running bereavement groups. Prior to joining the group, the facilitator will have a ten-minute phone conversation with you to discuss the group and your expectations.
