SENDCo Education Consultation Service at The Retreat

We place the child’s well-being at it the heart of this service, offering tailored advice within an empathetic, non-judgemental framework. It recognises the constraints within the education system while striving to empower families, schools, and children to achieve meaningful, positive change for children who have had or who may have therapeutic support from The Retreat.

Service Overview

The service includes a one-hour consultation with families, during which the child’s and parents’ voices are central to understanding the child’s unique needs. Following the consultation, a practical one page written report is provided, outlining actionable strategies and recommendations for schools to implement. This report is designed to help schools create a supportive, personalised plan that aligns with the SEND Code of Practice.

Empathy and Non-Judgement: The service ensures families feel heard and supported, free from judgement.

Child-Centred Approach: Every recommendation prioritises the child’s emotional and educational needs.
