Emma Yates
Sessional Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
York, Online
My Expertise
I specialise in supporting children with anxiety, behavioural challenges, trauma, attachment difficulties, neurodivergence and mental health. My work includes creative play based therapy, emotional regulation and building self esteem. I help children process change, such as loss or family separation, while working closely with parents to strengthen relationships and support each child’s growth.
Coming from a background of working with children and young people in music education and witnessing the unfolding mental health crisis in these unprecedented times drew me into retraining as a therapist. It is my hope to make a meaningful early impact, helping children navigate emotions, trauma, and development, to support lifelong wellbeing.
I most enjoy helping a child feel truly understood, while supporting them in growing into their own unique self, and watching that spark of confidence and resilience begin to shine.
My Qualifications
Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
My interests outside of work
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, especially walking together in the woods and appreciating nature’s calm. I love creating harp music, expressing creativity through sound. Seeing family and friends is important to me, bringing connection, laughter, and shared experiences that help me relax, recharge and feel inspired.
